Mae celf a theithio yn rhannu perthynas symbiotig ddofn, lle mae archwilio corfforol yn tanio mynegiant creadigol a dealltwriaeth ddiwylliannol yn uniongyrchol, mae fy nghelf yn estyniad o'r ffordd. Rwy'n credu, er mwyn cysylltu'n wirioneddol â gwlad, rhaid i mi fod yn un â'i natur. Arweiniodd yr athroniaeth hon fi i greu cyanoteipiau cyfryngau cymysg wrth deithio a recordio'r synau o'm cwmpas. Drwy ddefnyddio'r byd naturiol fel fy mhwnc a golau haul fy lleoliad i ddatgelu pob print, mae fy mhroses greadigol yn dod yn gydweithrediad â'r ddaear. Mae pob darn yn rhoi ymdeimlad dwfn o berthyn i'r tir i mi, gan archifo moment penodol lle mae amser, lle a natur yn cyd-fynd.
Art and travel share a deeply symbiotic relationship, where physical exploration directly fuels creative expression and cultural understanding, my art is an extension of the road. I believe, to truly connect with a country, I must be at one with its nature. This philosophy led me to create mixed-media cyanotypes whist travelling and recording the sounds around me. By using the natural world as my subject and the sunlight of my location to expose each print, my creative process becomes a collaboration with the earth. Each piece gives me a profound sense of belonging to the land, archiving a specific moment where time, place, and nature align.
Ffydd hedfan: Dathliad o fudo cadarnhaol
Mae teithio yn ffrwyth i'r enaid, yn wirionedd a rennir gan fodau dynol a'r byd naturiol fel ei gilydd. Mae’r gosodiad cyfoes, cyfrwng-cymysg hwn yn dathlu gwytnwch rhyfeddol Gwenoliaid Tŷ a Gwenoliaid sy’n mudo degau o filoedd o filltiroedd o Affrica i Ogledd Cymru bob gwanwyn.
Mae'r adar bach hyn yn clocio pellteroedd mawr dros eu hoes i nythu, magu eu cywion, a'u dysgu i hedfan, cyn cychwyn ar y daith hir tua'r de unwaith eto. Wedi gyrru'r llwybr o Ogledd Cymru i Foroco ac yn ôl fy hun, rydw i'n rhyfeddu'n fawr at eu hymroddiad diwyro.
Mae'r gwaith yn cyfuno cemeg cyanotype ag argraffu sgrîn, gan fwrw lens gyfoes ar estheteg hynafol. Mae'r naratif gweledol hwn wedi'i seilio ar seinwedd safle-benodol o alwadau adar, gan ddal arc sonig eu harhosiad - o gyrraedd hyd at fagu epil a'u hymadawiad yn y pen draw. Mae’r gosodiad yn cysylltu llwybrau mudol hynafol â’n tirwedd fodern. Mewn oes sy’n cael ei chysgodi gan newid hinsawdd a chynnwrf ecolegol, mae ffydd absoliwt yr adar hyn yn ymfudiad hyfryd o harmoni—yn destament i wydnwch y mae’n rhaid inni ei drysori a’i ddathlu.
Faith of flight : A celebration of positive migration
Traveling is fruit for the soul, a truth shared by humans and the natural world alike. This contemporary, mixed-media installation celebrates the astonishing resilience of House Martins and Swallows that migrate tens of thousands of miles from Africa to North Wales every spring.
These tiny birds clock up vast distances over their lifetimes to nest, rear their young, and teach them to fly, before embarking on the long journey south once more. Having driven the path from North Wales to Morocco and back myself, I am filled with profound wonder at their unwavering dedication.
The work merges the chemistry of cyanotype with screen printing, casting a contemporary lens on antique aesthetics. This visual narrative is grounded by a site-specific soundscape of bird calls, capturing the sonic arc of their stay—from arrival to the rearing of offspring and their eventual departure. The installation connects ancient migratory pathways with our modern landscape. In an era shadowed by climate change and ecological upheaval, the absolute faith of these birds is a beautiful migration of harmony—a testament to resilience that we must cherish and celebrate.
